SundownIsland > This is a perfect photo of a Reddish Egret in breeding plumage. Notice the deep pink in the bill and the almost luminescent blue around the eyes.Photo Credit: March 2009, Peggy Wilkinson.
SundownIsland > While the counters were "counting" I lodged myself in front of two nests. One had two Great Egret chicks and the other had three Brown Pelican Chicks. I was hoping to catch a "feeding photo" but did not get that lucky. What I did see was an "amazing amount" of sibling rilvary. These two chicks look pretty docile, but believe me, the one on the right was definately the larger, dominate chick. Photo Credit: May 2009, Marcy Spears.
SundownIsland > These are the same Great Egret chicks as in the last photo. The smaller one is resting (or playing possum or giving up??) while the other one is having a fit. Photo Credit: May 2009, Marcy Spears.
SundownIsland > The first crew arrives. It was a windy choppy trip, typical for a March workday. Tim Wilkinson and his brother, Doug, help unload the boat while Diane Nunley, Marcy Spearsl, Ethan Vuichard and Abe Moore passed over supplies and equipment. Richard Prater (on bow) and Ed Taylor (yellow slicker) secure the Egret II. (Photo credit: Rebeka Olson)
SundownIsland > Adult Great White Egret with fledglings. They all seemed to be a bit confused, except for one thing...where's dinner?
SundownIsland > This Great White Egret fledgling is probably two or three weeks old.
SundownIsland > Hungry Great White Egret fledglings.
