These photos were taken at the Sundown Island Spring Workday. Volunteers work together to get the island ready for breeding season.
Volunteers familiar with the island will be amazed at the amount of dredge fill on the East side of the island. The red line to the left is the old shore line. Last year there were so many pelicans that they were nesting right on the waters edge, which during even mild storms could be hazardous. This year they will have an easier time of it.
